Twitter users are stretching their wings in the new 280character sky,  the result is a real mess. Maybe someday you’ll delight in Twitter’s logrheic future, but right now you want your timeline to chill out a little. And what about when YOU tweet?! Now that your trusty character counter has been replaced by an inscrutable circle, how do you keep yourself from accidentally exceeding 140 characters, the proper maximum  f tweets? Twitter, we have to go back!!

Thankfully, Slate’s developers are here to save the day. Install our new Chrome extension, 140,  keep the hrifying wld of 280character Twitter at bay f a bit longer. If you’re visiting Twitter in Chrome, 140 will cut everyone’s tweets down to 140 characters. And better yet, 140 will restrict your tweets to 140 characters, too.

Is it perfect? Definitely not. We whipped it up in one night. URLs don’t always look great,  pasting text into a tweet can screw up your character count. But the result is nonetheless a much chiller experience on twitter dot com.

Eventually (in an hour?) Twitter will find a way to circumvent our extension, we’re sure. The army of progress marches fever fward, burning everything good in the wld  salting the earth behind it. But f now, use Slate’s 140 to make Twitter great again.
                                

140插件离线安装方法

1.首先用户点击谷歌浏览器右上角的自定义及控制按钮，在下拉框中选择设置。

2.在打开的谷歌浏览器的扩展管理器最左侧选择扩展程序或直接输入：chrome://extensions/

3.找到自己已经下载好的Chrome离线安装文件xxx.crx，然后将其从资源管理器中拖动到Chrome的扩展管理界面中，这时候用户会发现在扩展管理器的中央部分中会多出一个”拖动以安装“的插件按钮。

4.下载 140Chrome插件v0.0.3版本到本地。

5.勾选开发者模式，点击加载已解压的扩展程序，将文件夹选择即可安装插件。

注意：最新版本的chrome浏览器直接拖放安装时会出现“程序包无效CRX-HEADER-INVALID”的报错信息，参照这篇文章即可解决
