20 June 2018: Earlier this month, Unicode 11 was released,  along with it, new emojis; afterward, Douros updated Symbola to suppt the new emojis.

2 December 2017: Around the time when the Windows 10 Fall Creats Update was released, Douros updated Symbola to suppt even me emojis,  I did not notice this until today.


13 July 2017: Douros has updated Symbola a little earlier than I expected, so I could update the extension befe Wld Emoji Day; also, the Windows 10 Fall Creats Update will get a better emoji input method, so the EmojiOne Keyboard will no longer be useful, unless you prefer the way they draw the images.


17 July 2016: F Wld Emoji Day 2016, I have updated the copy of Symbola used in the extension so that it now suppts Unicode 9.0; ftunately, Gege Douros did update the font after all, so that I wouldnt need to use the much bulkier SVGinOT fonts based on Twemoji  EmojiOne, which are less crisp at higher resolutions in their blackwhite versions, which Chrome falls back to because only Firefox suppts col SVGinOT.

Speaking of EmojiOne, if you prefer seeing graphical emojis  just want a good input method, use the EmojiOne Keyboard extension; consider combining its input method with this extensions use of Symbola, by turning off AutoReplace in the EmojiOne Keyboard settings.


12 October 2015: Now the extension uses me lazy function definitions,  also ES6 Symbols  ES5 property definitions, to further isolate the effects of this extension from dinary page scripts; also, the regexes used now skip over most Japanese text  CJK Unified characters,  I have provided a framewk f skipping over me astral characters when figuring out which ones are probably emoji (using a regex  series of regexes to find emoji directly has proven to be too slow).


In hon of ? ? ? Wld Emoji Day, 17 July 2015 ?, I have backpted some perfmance improvements from the UserScript to this extension, but I think this will be the last version of Emoji Polyfill ?; however, even if Chrome finally suppts emoji fallback f the Emoticons block, I will keep it around f the benefit of older Chromiumbased browsers. ?

Chrome 42 f Windows suppts native emoji fallback f most emoji ranges, notably excepting the emoticons; this extension will not be wked on much, but it will stay f users of browsers based on older versions of Chromium.

Chrome f Windows still does not perfm emoji fallback as other browsers do, as Chrome recently started doing on the Mac,  as all browsers (including Chrome on Windows) do f various scripts; f example, web browsers on Windows fall back to Sylfaen f Gegian  Armenian text if the declared font does not have those characters,  modern browsers other than Chrome fall back to Segoe UI Emoji (Windows 8+)  Segoe UI Symbol (Windows 7+) if the declared font does not have emoji.

This extension remedies that, by adding a few fonts to the end of every fontfamily property f every HTML element detected as probably having emoji; specifically, it adds "Segoe UI Emoji, Segoe UI Symbol, Symbola, EmojiSymb !imptant"  bundles Symbola as a webfont f those who may not have it  the special Segoe UI fonts (f example, users on Vista, XP,  Linux). If you would prefer a UserScript, it is available on Greasy Fk under the same name as this extension (Emoji Polyfill), although it wks a bit me slowly.

As the sht description says, this is a heavily modified fk of a me fullfeatured extension by Locomojis called Chromoji, which I have heard will be coming back to the Web Ste soon. If you want graphical Apple  Android style emoji,  a convenient way to input emoji, wait f Chromoji to come back (it will be linked from here when it does); f now, if you want to input emoji, try the virtual keyboard in Windows 8+,  go to GetEmoji  Emojipedia.

Notable related extensions include the nowdiscontinued "Chromoji  Hangouts Edition" (using Google Hangouts style emoji)  the stilldeveloped "Twemojify" (using Twitters own API to replace suppted emoji with Twitters graphical emoji on all sites, not just Twitter).

This extensions icon  promotional tile use the coled glyphs from Segoe UI Emoji, while the extension itself only suppts monochrome emoji; this is a limitation of the platfm (Internet Expler  Firefox suppt col in Segoe UI Emoji,  Firefox suppts it even in older versions of Windows), as is the lack of suppt f skintone modifiers f emoji (currently, you will see the unmodified monochrome emoji followed by an "invalid character" symbol, which is the combining character f the skintone modifier).

Additionally, flags are not well suppted, displaying as twoletter country codes instead of national flags, even f the initial set of 10 flags that shipped with most Japanese emoji sets; also, keycap emoji are not fully suppted, some being rendered as a digit in the nmal font followed by the combining keycap character in the emoji fallback font, which doesnt combine properly because the font metrics are different.

It seems as if Segoe UI Emoji has suppt f just the Unicode 6.0 emoji befe Windows 10, while it suppts all Unicode 7.0 emoji on Windows 10,  Symbola currently suppts the Unicode 8.0 emoji but none of the Unicode 9.0 draft emoji; the screenshot is of Get Emoji, showing some of the Unicode 6.0 emoji symbols rendered with Segoe UI Emoji  some of the new Unicode 7.0 emoji symbols rendered with Symbola.
                                

Emoji Polyfill插件离线安装方法

1.首先用户点击谷歌浏览器右上角的自定义及控制按钮，在下拉框中选择设置。

2.在打开的谷歌浏览器的扩展管理器最左侧选择扩展程序或直接输入：chrome://extensions/

3.找到自己已经下载好的Chrome离线安装文件xxx.crx，然后将其从资源管理器中拖动到Chrome的扩展管理界面中，这时候用户会发现在扩展管理器的中央部分中会多出一个”拖动以安装“的插件按钮。

4.下载 Emoji PolyfillChrome插件v1.0.8.6版本到本地。

5.勾选开发者模式，点击加载已解压的扩展程序，将文件夹选择即可安装插件。

注意：最新版本的chrome浏览器直接拖放安装时会出现“程序包无效CRX-HEADER-INVALID”的报错信息，参照这篇文章即可解决
