An inspection tool f Chrome Automation API

The Chrome Automation API is an experimental accessibility API that allows developers to access the automation tree  events f the browser. The tree resembles the DOM tree, but only exposes the semantic structure of a page. It can be used to programmatically interact with a page by examining names, roles,  states, listening f events,  perfming actions on nodes.

One of Chrome Automations main purposes is to enable the development of assistive technologies written in JavaScript, f Chrome OS. This is similar to how MSAA, IA2  UIA are used on Windows,  AX Accessibility is used f OS X. It can also be used by extensions, but because it is experimental, it is currently available only on the dev channel  to internal assistive technologies such as ChromeVox.

Automation Inspect is used to exercise the Automation API, to inspect the entire Chrome OS desktop,  to inspect a specific browser tab.

This tool is mainly useful f the following types of people:

Developers/QA wking on Chrome accessibility suppt
Developers/QA wking on assistive technologies f Chrome OS
Developers/QA wking on accessibility of web applications looking (less so)
Installation

Chrome tabs: you can inspect individual browser tabs on any OS. To do this, install Google Chrome Canary  then install Automation Inspect as an extension. 
Chrome OS desktop: to inspect the Chrome OS desktop, you must switch your Chrome OS to the Dev Channel,  then install Automation Inspect as an app.  See the Automation Inspect app in Chrome Web Ste.

Usage tips

Finding a node

The find field is very powerful,  can be used in a number of ways:

Plain text search: this will search rows f the visible text shown. This can be slow on complex pages, it it will cause the entire page to be loaded a bit at a time.
/RegEx/ search: include slashes to search f rows with matching visible text. Slow on complex pages (similiar to plain text search).
${select}: use jQuerylike fmat, which is a CSS select wrapped inside $(), to find a node matching a given select. This will currently return only the first item. This method uses the Automation APIs domQuerySelect method. F example, use $(#myspecialelement) to find the nearest automation node to that element.
{JSON FindParams}: this executes the Automation APIs findAll method with syntax similar to FindParams. However, this method accepts valid JSON syntax only. You must provide strings rather than constants. F example, use { "state" : {"disabled": true }} rather than { state: { StateType.disabled: true }}.
                                

Automation Inspector (Extension)插件离线安装方法

1.首先用户点击谷歌浏览器右上角的自定义及控制按钮，在下拉框中选择设置。

2.在打开的谷歌浏览器的扩展管理器最左侧选择扩展程序或直接输入：chrome://extensions/

3.找到自己已经下载好的Chrome离线安装文件xxx.crx，然后将其从资源管理器中拖动到Chrome的扩展管理界面中，这时候用户会发现在扩展管理器的中央部分中会多出一个”拖动以安装“的插件按钮。

4.下载 Automation Inspector (Extension)Chrome插件v0.1.7版本到本地。

5.勾选开发者模式，点击加载已解压的扩展程序，将文件夹选择即可安装插件。

注意：最新版本的chrome浏览器直接拖放安装时会出现“程序包无效CRX-HEADER-INVALID”的报错信息，参照这篇文章即可解决
