So what!? Why should I care about "BibItNow!" ?

Well, probably most scientists know the following situation: you are looking up a nice article that you want to cite, but you somehow run into troubles getting the bibliographic data from your browser into your citation library. It is often already hard to find the "expt" button, but even if you have found it, chances are that it does not wk if you use a script blocker to avoid the bazillions of unnecessary scripts that are let loose at you nowadays. And even if the expt button wks, the result is often useless, as it comes in an inconvenient fmat  contains special characters that are not compatible with your particular bibliography system of choice.

Bibliographic tools which are directly coupled to the browser, such as the popular tool Zotero, have already simplified this task a lot. However, the wkflow of these tools is mostly optimized towards their own integrated library system, whereas many users might prefer different library tools while only caring about the citation data extraction capabilities. This plugin offers exactly that, a lightweight tool that focuses solely on extracting citation data as quickly  as crectly as possible. Click the extensions tool bar icon  press the browser action shtcut keys when surfing on the abstract page of a journal article, a book, a thesis,  on any other web page,  the extension will try everything to extract all the data you want. In the fmat you like, with the encoding it needs! Decide whether you want to simply copy to clipboard, download a file  open it with the program of YOUR CHOICE!

Main Features

 Versatility: Generates bibliography items of journal articles, books, theses  generic web pages in the Bibtex, RIS, Endnote, APA, MLA  (B)Arnold S. fmat.

 Quick wkflow: No me need to mess with the publishers expt button! One click  key stroke (DEFAULT: ALT+C) to extract the data,  a second click  key stroke to copy the data to clipboard  download/open it with your favite library software. The extension furtherme comes with a set of options purely aimed at improving your wkflow. F example, the plugin automatically generates a clickable  easily copyable DOI link if a DOI is found,  it can generate any other user defined link based on the available citation data. The plugin can also be configured to automatically highlight the citation text, enabling completely mouseless operation.

 Simplicity: The plugin only extracts, fmats  expts bibliographic data,  its functions are only aimed at avoiding the most common nuisances in these three steps. No fancy library system included!

 Compatibility: An extensively tested set of fixed extraction  parsing rules combined with URL specific adjustments allows the plugin to wk on abstract pages of many publishers, including Nature, Science, Elsevier, Springer  any publisher that cares to provide commonly fmatted meta data. The extension furtherme wks on journal article pages of the scientific databases PubMed  Scopus,  of the open access library arXiv. You can also cite books from various sources, such as Google books  the book section of Amazon!.

 Modifiability: Each citation fmat comes with a number of easily reachable  adjustable settings. Meover, f the advanced user/contribut, the flexible data extraction  parsing system allows to easily add  improve the suppt f specific web pages. Add custom search queries via CSS selects,  preprocess the extracted data. All in simple, URLspecific Javascript code.

 Optimized f Bibtex: Decide which bibliography field  how many auths to include, customize the bibkey, set whether to abbreviate the journal title  how to include URLs,. Special characters are automatically replaced by the cresponding Latex comm, the fmat of names  initials is stardized,  math mode comms/fmulas are preserved!

BibItNow！插件离线安装方法

1.首先用户点击谷歌浏览器右上角的自定义及控制按钮，在下拉框中选择设置。

2.在打开的谷歌浏览器的扩展管理器最左侧选择扩展程序或直接输入：chrome://extensions/

3.找到自己已经下载好的Chrome离线安装文件xxx.crx，然后将其从资源管理器中拖动到Chrome的扩展管理界面中，这时候用户会发现在扩展管理器的中央部分中会多出一个”拖动以安装“的插件按钮。

4.下载 BibItNow！Chrome插件v0.908版本到本地。

5.勾选开发者模式，点击加载已解压的扩展程序，将文件夹选择即可安装插件。

注意：最新版本的chrome浏览器直接拖放安装时会出现“程序包无效CRX-HEADER-INVALID”的报错信息，参照这篇文章即可解决
