LiveHosts插件描述

LiveHosts is a Chrome extension that aims at providing a wking (even if subobtimal) solution to a common nuisance that many web developers have to deal with every day. If you have multiple versions of your websites sharing the same host names on multiple environments, you often need to switch the assignments in your OS hosts file.

Other extensions (like the lifesaving HostAdmin) can help with the cumbersomeness, but changes to the hosts file usually take an inconvenient amount of time to actually affect the browser.

Unftunately, there is no way to make Chrome direct requests f a hostname to a specific IP without a stard redirect  you could set up a smart HTTP , but its often not possible  not convenient.

This extension settles f a subobtimal approach: requests to the indicated hostnames are redirected to the chosen IPs with an additional Host header. The browsers address bar reflects this behaviour showing the hostname right after the IP (e.g. http://127.0.0.1/www.example.com/). The extension also tries to take care of all requests to either the IP  the hostname in a consistent way.

Issues

After the redirect, the user is effectively in a different domain that the one they expected. They may notice some functional differences:

 depending on the server, parts of a web page referring to the site URL (like href  src attributes) could be different from the iginal
 window.location has a different value that can potentially throw off JavaScript snippets
 most CrossOrigin request wont wk
                                

LiveHosts插件离线安装方法

1.首先用户点击谷歌浏览器右上角的自定义及控制按钮，在下拉框中选择设置。

2.在打开的谷歌浏览器的扩展管理器最左侧选择扩展程序或直接输入：chrome://extensions/

3.找到自己已经下载好的Chrome离线安装文件xxx.crx，然后将其从资源管理器中拖动到Chrome的扩展管理界面中，这时候用户会发现在扩展管理器的中央部分中会多出一个”拖动以安装“的插件按钮。

4.下载 LiveHostsChrome插件v2.0.0版本到本地。

5.勾选开发者模式，点击加载已解压的扩展程序，将文件夹选择即可安装插件。

注意：最新版本的chrome浏览器直接拖放安装时会出现“程序包无效CRX-HEADER-INVALID”的报错信息，参照这篇文章即可解决
