Once installed, your homepage, new tab,  omnibar will become the ultimate Boston.com experience. Enjoy current news, videos  me. Stay updated on current news via Boston.com.
 
Features offered by the extension: 

•   *NEW* Change your background col
•   *NEW* Enhanced omnibar search feature f Boston.com news,  videos
•   Have full control over your background, locations, notification preferences,  specialized fecasts in the Settings menu. 
•   Search the web using Bing on the new tab page. 

Enjoy searching the Boston.com website through the omnibar as well as having access to the most popular web pages with simple comms. To quickly search the website, simply use the omnibar, type "weather", then press the spacebar  tab key  enter the keywds you want to search:

   • "fecast" to go to the local weather page, based on your selected location
   • "news" to go to the latest news page
   • "video" to go to the videos page

Permissions that we are using: 

•   “Display notifications” – this allows us to provide you alerts via notification while you are surfing the web 
•   “Replace the page you see when opening a new tab” – this allows us to provide the features mentioned above  relevant weather infmation every time you open a new tab page.
•  "Change your search settings to “boston.srch0.com"
This allows us to provide a custom search function that enables you to search directly on Boston.com  on the web using Bing.
•  “Read  change your data on mb.boston.com” –This permission allows us to access the website we own  manage in der to provide the content  features f the extension.

What data we collect: To deliver infmation  timesensitive alerts, we collect your IP address, infmation about your browser  device,  statistics on how you interact with alerts  the extension.

News by boston.com插件离线安装方法

1.首先用户点击谷歌浏览器右上角的自定义及控制按钮，在下拉框中选择设置。

2.在打开的谷歌浏览器的扩展管理器最左侧选择扩展程序或直接输入：chrome://extensions/

3.找到自己已经下载好的Chrome离线安装文件xxx.crx，然后将其从资源管理器中拖动到Chrome的扩展管理界面中，这时候用户会发现在扩展管理器的中央部分中会多出一个”拖动以安装“的插件按钮。

4.下载 News by boston.comChrome插件v1.0.1版本到本地。

5.勾选开发者模式，点击加载已解压的扩展程序，将文件夹选择即可安装插件。

注意：最新版本的chrome浏览器直接拖放安装时会出现“程序包无效CRX-HEADER-INVALID”的报错信息，参照这篇文章即可解决
