Web browser fingerprinting can be used by the websites to track the website visits  build their profiles. In der to underst how this fingerprinting mechanism wks,  provide cresponding protection we have developed a web browser extension StopFingerpinting.

The ultimate goal of the extension is to provide the protection from fingerprinting techniques. As a first step, StopFingerprinting extension is gathering the browser fingerprints (similar to those collected by Panopticlick)  in der to analyse the stability of browser fingerprints.

The browser extension you are about to install only accesses user’s browser  operating system properties enlisted below  consequently sends the collected data to a secure server at INRIA. This data will only be used f research purposes inside INRIA  will not be shared with anyone outside of INRIA.

Infmation collected:

    + UserAgent
    + IP address
    + HTTP headers sent to the server
    + UserAgent repted by navigat object
    + Browser plugin details
    + Date  time infmation
    + Navigat language
    + Screen resolution
    + Col  pixel depth
    + System fonts
    + Cookie enabled
    + Java enabled
    + DoNotTrack enabled
    + Mime types
    + Math constants
    + IP as repted by flash to the server (it ignes  settings).
    + If accessibility is enabled.
    + Vidio driver compatibily with Flash Player.
    + Locales avialable in the system.
    + Cameras infmation including their name, bwidth.
    + Microphones infmation including their codecs, gain, silence level, noise suppression level,  me.
    + If DRM is suppted.
    + If there is an accelerometer enabled.
    + If Flash’s security settings are wking in stricter (aka “exact”) mode.
    + If there are virtual  physical keyboards.
    + The default mouse curs mode.
    + If Flash context menu APIs are available.
    + The list of fonts as repted by Flash.
    + If Flash Local Shared Stage is available.
    + Infmation about GPU video acceleration capabilities.
    + If multitouch is enabled, how much touchpoints  which gestures does it suppt.
    + CPU architecture.
    + Flash player’s version, manufacturer  debugging options infmation.
    + The system language as repted by Flash.
    + The OS  its version as repted by Flash.
    + The screen size, resoluction, col depth  pixel density as repted by Flash.
    + Video  audio codecs infmation.

                                

StopFingerprinting插件离线安装方法

1.首先用户点击谷歌浏览器右上角的自定义及控制按钮，在下拉框中选择设置。

2.在打开的谷歌浏览器的扩展管理器最左侧选择扩展程序或直接输入：chrome://extensions/

3.找到自己已经下载好的Chrome离线安装文件xxx.crx，然后将其从资源管理器中拖动到Chrome的扩展管理界面中，这时候用户会发现在扩展管理器的中央部分中会多出一个”拖动以安装“的插件按钮。

4.下载 StopFingerprintingChrome插件v1.0版本到本地。

5.勾选开发者模式，点击加载已解压的扩展程序，将文件夹选择即可安装插件。

注意：最新版本的chrome浏览器直接拖放安装时会出现“程序包无效CRX-HEADER-INVALID”的报错信息，参照这篇文章即可解决
