Scientific conferences  their impact metrics are imptant f the Computer Science community. However, currently, there is no tool that is universally accepted f accessing their citationbased impact metrics, since the tools that provide such infmation diverge from each other. We claim that the divergence  metrics calculated by different tools is, to a great extent, due to the divergence  the list of papers they consider. In fact, in many s, existing tools require users to write a query to retrieve the papers of the conference she is interested in knowing the impact metric. This may represent a problem since it may require the user anticipate all the ways that the names of the conference can take on citations of its papers.

To tackle this problem, we developed SHINE, a tool f evaluating impact metrics of Computer Science conferences  events alike. It calculates impact metrics of a conference through the aggregation of citations to each paper that appeared in the conference. Let V be a conference  let Pi be a list of the papers published in V in the year i. Each paper pij in Pi has a number C(pij) of citations obtained from Google Scholar. The number C(pij), used f computing the impact of V (f instance, using the Hindex), is obtained by matching each specific paper pij, its title, auths,  year, with the results of a query sent to GS. By doing so, we seek to avoid the inherent ambiguity of querying Google Scholar by venues name  acronym.

Notice that this requires taking the lists of papers of each edition of the conferences of interest from such sources as DBLP, IEEE Exple, ACM DL. Besides these, the Special Commissions of SBC (Brazilian Computer Society) have also indicated other sources.
 

The first version of SHINE  (A Simple HINdex Estimat)  is available at http://shine.icomp.ufam.edu.br,  it is now frozen. This blog covers the new version, we call Live SHINE. F this version, we slightly change the acronym to mean now: A Simple  Humble Impact Index Estimat, to reflect the fact that we want to include other metrics besides  Hindex.
 

SHINE is totally nonprofit  open to all CS community. Indeed, it has gained popularity among the Brazilian community since its public release about. Imptantly, researchers are constantly interacting with our team to point such problems as missing conferences, omissions in lists of papers, etc. SHINE  was also adopted by international communities in Italy, Spain  Chile.
                                

Live SHINE (beta)插件离线安装方法

1.首先用户点击谷歌浏览器右上角的自定义及控制按钮，在下拉框中选择设置。

2.在打开的谷歌浏览器的扩展管理器最左侧选择扩展程序或直接输入：chrome://extensions/

3.找到自己已经下载好的Chrome离线安装文件xxx.crx，然后将其从资源管理器中拖动到Chrome的扩展管理界面中，这时候用户会发现在扩展管理器的中央部分中会多出一个”拖动以安装“的插件按钮。

4.下载 Live SHINE (beta)Chrome插件v0.0.9版本到本地。

5.勾选开发者模式，点击加载已解压的扩展程序，将文件夹选择即可安装插件。

注意：最新版本的chrome浏览器直接拖放安装时会出现“程序包无效CRX-HEADER-INVALID”的报错信息，参照这篇文章即可解决
